Josiah Wedgwood founded the Wedgwood company over two and a half centuries ago. Wedgwood perfected his craft by apprenticing and then founded his own company by the time he was thirty. He continued experimenting and invented several pottery innovations.
The Wedgwood company merged with the Waterford brand in the late 1980s, resulting in Waterford Wedgwood.
