René Lalique studied art before becoming one of the great glass designers and manufacturers of the world, at the beginning of the twentieth century. He was a true industrialist – mass producing many glass objects in order to make it possible for people who weren’t rich to enjoy his beautiful pieces of art.
René Lalique also produced very basic bowls (and other items ) for the French war effort during WW I. Hospitals needed these glass containers.
Lalique Bowls are prime examples of the Lalique look; the Lalique Bowls have his trademark flowing lines. Also, many of the Lalique bowls include such things from nature as: birds, berries, flowers, fish, plants, and animals.
