The first Hallmark ornaments were produced for Hallmark in the early 1970s. The ornament line was Christmas-themed, and consisted of four ball ornaments and twelve yarn ornaments. (Yarn ornaments are just that – They are ornaments that look almost hand-made.)
One of the ball ornaments was called Musicians and was designed by Betsey Clark. The second ball ornament was designed by Sue Tague and was called Elves. The two other Christmas ornaments were called Santa with Elves and the Manger Scene.
The twelve Hallmark yarn ornaments included a male snowman, a female snowman, Santa, Mrs. Claus, an angel, an elf, a choir boy, a soldier, a blue girl, a green girl, a boy caroler and a little girl. Of course, no yarn ornament series would be complete without Raggedy Ann!
Today, Hallmark specializes in ornaments of all types. They do not limit their collection of Hallmark ornaments to just Christmas!
