The air was heavy with anticipation every spring when our mother said that it was time to purchase our special Easter dresses. My sister and I would shout with joy, sometimes so loudly that I now wonder if we were heard throughout the neighborhood. This tradition has been going on since I was a child, and continues to this day.
As we would go from store to store, our excitement was uncontainable. There were dresses in all colors and styles, with prices that fit any budget. Our father would always give extra money to our mother to purchase new shoes to go with our Easter dresses. This was the only time we got a dress and shoes at the same time of the year, and we couldn’t wait to go home and show our father our new outfits.
