Everyone knows the tradition of hanging stockings on the fireplace mantle on Christmas Eve for Santa to fill, but traditional red and white stockings are not the only ones available. Christmas stockings come in many colors and sizes, and can be used for many situations.
For young children, some stockings come with animals or seasonal scenes on them. They can be pre-made with a person’s name embroidered, or an object attached – like a snowflake, or holly berries. Not only for fireplace mantle hanging, stockings can be used as attachments to gifts, tree decorations, or centerpieces filled with candy and other treats. Large stockings may be used in place of gift bags when exchanging presents, or filled with other seasonal decorative items. With many uses other than the common one, Christmas stockings are a great holiday accessory to have on hand.
